Fascia

April 1, 2019

Fascia is the tissue that connects your muscles to all the other bits in your body including your tendons, ligaments, bones and organs. It is the 'glue' that binds us all together. Our sedentary lifestyle can cause this fascia to stick together making movement more difficult and restricted. If it is smooth and glides easily over itself then movement becomes easier and flows. Slow Flow yoga can help mobilise the fascia reducing this 'sticky' property and help improve the quality of movement. Applying the Alexander Technique to Slow Flow Yoga also helps you towards improved body awareness and alignment, in other words re-building your fascia with new structural connections to help help you develop healthier postural habits For more information about fascia see this video from Tom Myers (Anatomy Trains)
