Stillness Class


In this 30 min online class Alison helps you let go of tension, think more clearly, and move through your day with less stress and more ease.

Using small, guided movements and a specific way of directing your attention, Alison helps you reconnect with your body and mind in a practical, accessible way. You don’t need any equipment, special clothing, or previous experience.

​

The class is not a meditation or a workout. It's a structured approach to stillness that helps you:

•           Notice and release physical and mental tension

•           Improve focus and body awareness

•           Feel more present and settled after a busy day

•           Sleep better by calming your system before bed

​

Many people use these classes as a reliable way to reset, especially when they feel overwhelmed, anxious, or disconnected.

"One thing which has helped me immensely are the Stillness Classes.  I cannot believe how much my sleep has improved and I have used certain tools which I have been given to help me have an MRI scan on my arthritic knee.

I am claustrophobic and last week I managed to complete an MRI scan on my knee.  Admittedly I was able to keep my head out of the scanner.  I used my breathing techniques and stillness to enable me not to panic and jump out of the scanner.  This feels like such an achievement as previously I would have travelled miles to have a scan where they had an open scanner.

I work in horticulture for a veg growers' co-op, growing and delivering locally grown veg here in Cumbria.

 

My work involves a lot of physical labour - bending, lifting, twisting, reaching, all sorts of things that put a strain on my spine and muscles. I also spend a lot of time driving which can also affect my spine and upper back. It can leave me quite achy at the end of the week and I know could have a serious effect in the long run.


I have really enjoyed doing the stillness classes, not only because they help you relax immensely especially after a tiring day, but also because they have made me so much more aware in my daily life of the little things like straightening my spine or breathing into the full width of my lungs, which I can sense has an impact on some of the aches and pains from my work. The way she approaches thinking about your body by bringing your awareness to different parts of it was quite new to me and I've really enjoyed it - and is something I am sure I will continue to practice into the future!
