Discover the Power of the Breathing Ball Technique: Calm Your Mind and Body

Welcome to this month's blog post where we dive into a simple yet impactful technique that I've been teaching in my classes: the Breathing Ball technique.

I'm excited to share a video demonstration that will guide you through this technique, which you can find at the end of this post.

What is the Breathing Ball Technique?

The Breathing Ball technique is a visualisation and breathing practice that helps regulate your breathing pattern, bringing about a sense of calm and relaxation.

It's particularly useful before meditation, during moments of anxiety or panic, or in any stressful situations like giving a presentation or visiting the dentist.

Why practice the Breathing Ball Technique?

Breathing deeply and slowly has numerous benefits for both the mind and body:

  • Reduces stress response - It signals your brain to turn off the "fight or flight" response and activates the "rest and digest" system.

  • Promotes calmness - Regular practice can quickly bring calm to your mind and body, helping you to manage anxiety and stress effectively.

  • Enhances clarity and decision-making - By calming the mind, it helps you see situations from a bigger perspective, which aids in making better choices.

How to use this technique

The Breathing Ball technique involves you using your hands to mirror the movement of your ribs as a consequence of your lungs expanding. Your lungs expand because of the movement of your diaphragm moving towards your pelvis which in turn causes a change in air pressure in your lungs which draws in the air effortlessly.

As you inhale, visualise the ball expanding, and as you exhale, see it contracting. This visualisation helps in maintaining a slow and deep breathing rhythm, making it easier to focus on your breath and calm your mind. The picture of this ball has all the pieces connected in a suspended equilibrium that creates a dynamic balance. This is how all your muscles, tendons and ligaments all relate to each other in this suspended dynamic balance.

To help you get started with the Breathing Ball technique, I've created a video demonstration.

This video will guide you through the steps and show you exactly how to incorporate this practice into your daily routine. Whether you're looking to enhance your meditation practice, manage sudden panic attacks, or simply bring a moment of peace into your busy day, this technique can be a valuable tool.

Incorporate it into your routine

I encourage you to watch the video and try practicing the Breathing Ball technique daily. It only takes a few minutes, but the effects can be lasting. Over time, you'll likely notice an improvement in your overall well-being and a greater ability to handle stress.

I hope this technique brings you as much peace and clarity as it has brought to many of my students.

Remember, taking a few minutes each day to focus on your breathing can make a significant difference in your life. Try it out and let me know how it goes!
